Advanced Underwater shooters would definitely say that underwater photography is incredibly rewarding but at the same time it is one of the most difficult genres to practice. There are many bizarre, colorful creatures, coral reefs and many great landscapes present underwater that are just ‘waiting’ there to be photographed. Advanced underwater photographers know almost every concept of underwater photography, but they should not get carried away and should consider following tips –
- Advanced shooters know almost every trick. They should now try and think about the perfect background.
- Advanced shooters should look for ideal color combinations as well as diagonal compositions.
- One should use the depth of field appropriately. Try and focus completely on the subject and blur out the distracting background.
- Underwater photography means a lot of blues in the photograph. To eliminate this and to get the best reds try and shoot from close range around 2 feet. This is not just 2 feet; the light has to travel there and back which causes loss of color.
- Advanced photographers are expected to shoot everything flawlessly. Hence, one should not compromise on the equipments and try and use the best camera lenses and strobes.
- Just using the best lens won’t give the perfect shot. One should be quick enough to decide which lens should be used for which shot and deliver the perfect photograph.
- Pro- shooters should be able to previsualize their shots and make the necessary adjustments. They should mot approach the subject from above, but they should get in level of the subject and approach the subject slowly.
- Always try and shoot in RAW mode and try to bracket your shots. One should get inspired from the brilliant work of other photographers.
- Try and be impeccable. A pro-photographer should not process his work on the computer.
Try and sharpen your focus. One is familiar with the fact that there are low light levels at depth and the lack of contrast between the background and the subject will ruin the photograph.
