Mexico is a popular diving destination due to the large marine diversity found here. This is due to the fact that Mexico has clear waters which give fantastic underwater shots. The marine life in Mexico is typically Caribbean with a blend of small and large creatures. Mexico boasts of different varieties of marine life from fur seals to great white sharks, from elephant seals to Clarion Angelfish; Mexico provides wide life underwater at its best.

Here are some of the best diving destinations in Mexico for underwater photography.

  • Cozumel – This Island is located right at the top of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The waters here are warm and clear and hence they reveal coral formations underwater. One may not find many corals here due to the rushing water.
  • Yucatan and cenotes – One can find attractive schooling fishes here as well as gangs of turtles, tarpons. At some time of the day one may also spot nurse sharks hovering in the peninsula. Attractive shrimps, arrow crabs and pufferfishes make the place ever more enticing.
  • Isla Guadalupe – If one visits Mexico and enquire about this place, the only answer would be Great White Sharks. Isla Guadalupe has large population of Great White Sharks and hence there is no scuba diving here.
  • Islas Revillagigedo – This place has a unique marine ecosystem and is isolated from major land mass. This place is famous for its giant manta rays as well as the Clarion angelfish and Clarion damselfish. Islas Revillagigedo also has great numbers of humpback Whales, Dolphins and many others.
